  1. Howdy Gals! I’ve been a celiac for the last 14 years, though the problem was just diagnosed four years ago. I discovered your podcast a couple months ago and have really been enjoying it.

I wanted to comment on the questions regarding gluten-free international travel. I had an opportunity to visit the Philippines this year (an AWESOME trip) and discovered that there can be a pretty steep learning curve when it comes to eating overseas. While most of the food there should have been appropriate (being rice-based), there seemed to be only limited understanding regarding the need for the gluten-free foods to be prepared separately from regular meals. The result was that I ended up getting cross-contaminated and fought the flu-like symptoms for half of the trip.

I DID, however, manage to bring some food with me both directions. As long as the product was packaged in small (less than 3 oz.) containers in my carry-on or stored in my checked bag, I had no difficulties.

The real hero in this regard was a product called “Go Picnic”. I discovered these meals in the Denver airport during a previous expedition and found them to be quite filling. My family purchased several boxes rather inexpensively on Amazon.com and I was able to feast on them for much of the trip.

In the end, I made the decision to travel with all of my food in the future. This way, I can be certain that I have appropriate meals for the entire trip.

Thanks again! I really enjoy listening to you ladies. Keep up the good work!

  2. Hi! I don’t live near Boston, but my sister does and I’ll be visiting her in March. I will try to find the gluten free Duncan Donuts and try them out and report back!
