Gluten Free in Ocean City New Jersey

Pizza.  Fried Oreos.  Funnel Cake.  Fried Shrimp.  More Pizza.  More Fried Stuff.

I used to love eating my way down the boardwalk at the shore!  The (gluten filled) possibilities were endless!  Since going gluten free, I had a much harder time finding safe and gluten free foods on the boardwalk.  I would frustratedly munch on nuts or a protein bar (yippee) while my hubby and kids ate all things off limits.  Hmpf.

Not anymore!  Last Summer, Pure Tacos opened on the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ.  Located between 11th and 12th street on the boardwalk, Pure Tacos is 100% Gluten Free!  Yes, you read that correctly — each and every menu item is safe for us to eat!  The first time I visited Pure Tacos, I wanted to hug the cashier and ask them to Thanksgiving Dinner.  Pure Tacos offers several variations of tacos, nachos and fresh salads.

My family visited OCNJ last weekend for Mother’s Day and I was thrilled to see Pure Tacos open.  If you are down the Jersey Shore and are looking for quality gluten free food, stop by Pure Tacos.

  1. Don’t you just absolutely love places like Pure Tacos. I used to love being able to eat amusement park and beach stand food without any worries or cares in the world. How great that you can go to the beach and fully enjoy it now!

  2. I’m originally from NJ and would always visit Ocean county for vacation when I was a kid and Pure Tacos sounds delicious. Too bad it wasn’t around then. I never used to make a big deal about Gluten in the past ( I assumed if you weren’t allergic it wasn’t a problem) until I read an article claiming (with proof) that technically EVERYONE is allergic to gluten; some more serious than others. I’m now making an effort to avoid foods with Gluten, so thank-you for this post and blog. BTW; the fist-pumper disclaimer is hilarious!

  3. I don’t think I ever had a gluten free taco, but I love the concept. I have so food allergies it’s ridiculous, and gluten is one of them. I’m surprised they don’t open more mom & pop restaurants that are gluten-free. And here I thought nothing good came from the Jersey Shore; I guess I was wrong. 🙂

  4. thanks for making my day w/ this review. I get so tired of traveling and finding only one menu item i can eat (if any). A whole taco place that is totally safe sounds like heaven. This will be lunch AND dinner today.

  5. Pute Tacos … absolutely delicious !!! Didn’t thnk I’d enjoy anyone else’s tacos … will definitely enjoy those again !
