Product Review and Giveaway! Shabtai Gourmet

gluten free swiss cake roll

If I wasn’t already married, I would propose to Shabtai Gourmet.  That’s how much I am (crazy obsessed) in love with their Devil’s Food Mini and Regular Swiss Chocolate Rolls.  Holy moly, these desserts are FANTASTIC (yes, I am shouting, they are that good!).  The wondrous Andrew of Shabtai Gourmet recently shared his award-winning mini (aka Yidels) and regular size swiss rolls.  The package arrived on a ho hum Tuesday afternoon.  Upon opening the box of gluten free desserts, that Tuesday became spectacular!  I did cartwheels of joy in my living room.  I danced the jig in the kitchen.  I sang a song about Shabtai’s Yidels (trust me, rhyming with Yidels is not an easy feat).

Finished drooling over these photos?  Two lucky commenters will win a Shabtai Gourmet Sample Pack!  This is a drawing you so want to enter!  Simply leave a comment here on what your favorite gluten free dessert of choice is and you’ll be entered to win a Sample Pack of Shabtai’s delectable gluten free baked goods.  Deadline to enter is Saturday, December 11th.

Some other delectable allergen friendly desserts baked by Shabtai are: Gluten Free Honey Cakes, Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies, Gluten Free Flourless Chocolate Cakes, Gluten Free Jelly Rolls, Gluten Free Brownie Bites, Sponge Loaf Cakes & so much more.

  1. Oh, yum!! Desserts lately (I’m a GF newbie) have been rather dull. (Little bowls of chocolate chex?? Yes, I’m pathetic!) I did make a yummy GF pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving, though. (A whole pie to myself! This GF thing isn’t so bad . . .) I’d love to try the Shabtai goodies! Thanks for the chance!

  2. Mmm, I grew up on Little Debbie swiss rolls, it was always such a treat whenever my grandma brought them for my sisters and I! Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to have them since my celiac diagnosis. Is it lame that my favorite GF dessert is fresh fruit? I hope not, but then again, I do love GF chocolate molten lava cakes with candied pecans, mmmm!!!! =)

  3. Judging from your description and the photo, I’m guessing that these devils food cake rolls will become my favorite! Hope to win!

  4. I love anything with chocolate, and my favorite is just classic chocolate chip cookies! kochac22 at yahoo dot com

  5. to be able to replace the almighty ho-ho with g.f. goodness? priceless! I will practice no restraint whatsoever and eat the whole box at once. can’t wait 🙂

  6. Bought the chocolate roll recently and fell in love with it!! My daughter also loves the lace cookies, and we keep a stock of Ring Ting’s on hand for when there’s a bday at school for both kids to take.

  7. My favorite gf dessert is definitely the Shabtai Swiss Chocolate Roll. We tasted one at a Celiac Support Meeting and I was in love!!! 🙂

  8. I would love to try the honey cake, given the time of year, but they all look yummy. Maybe GF is do-able after all?!?

  9. I have recently fell in love with glow gluten free cookies. My favorite are the chocolate chip cookies. The dessert by Shabtai looks amazing! I would love to try it 🙂

  10. I have recently fell in love with Glow Gluten Free cookies. My favorite are the chocolate chip cookies. These desserts by Shabtai look delicious!! I would love to try it 🙂

  11. Sorry I must of double clicked the submit button did not realize my comment was submitted twice. Thanks for that great giveaway!

  12. My favorite goodie from Shabtai’s website are these pretty layered cookies called GF Rainbow cookie squares. This is there description “Italian Tricolor Rainbow Squares. Light sponge layers, separated by raspberry jam, and covered in dark chocolate” These are the best gluten free treat I have ever eaten. I bought 2 boxes with the idea of freezing half of them for later. But I kept sneaking back to the freezer for just one more. LOL until they were gone. Hope you will try them!!!

  13. Cookies, cake, pie, donuts, bread…um did I mention my Mother is a baker? My new favorite pumpkin choc chip cookies! We are trying to make everything Gluten free for my boys 7 & 2.

  14. YUMMIES! In high school I would buy a Little Debbie Swiss Roll for lunch pretty much every day…the flakey chocolate exterior, the spongey cake interior, the delicious cream…my mouth is watering. I so wish they made the Swiss Rolls in snack sizes.

  15. Oh, Oh, Oh! How I would love one right now. And, yes, I would probably eat the whole thing.
I’d love to have a Shabtai Gourmet Sample Pack. I have trouble finding Shabtai foods, but always love the ones I do find.

  16. This is the first box that lists every one of our stinking food allergies! And the food looks good too! Amazing.

  17. Delicious! My favorite gluten free desert would have to be anything chocolate. I love chocolate chip cookies, brownies, cake — I could go on forever with my mighty sweet tooth. I never thought I’d get a chance to try a gluten free and dairy free Little Debbie Swiss Roll look-a-like.

  18. Wow…I have not seen the Shabtai products yet. Thanks they look great. My favorite GF desert is a gingerbread truffle made with gluten free gingerbread, pumpkin puree and vanilla pudding,

  19. Are you trying to be cruel, showing off desserts like that? Good gracious I haven’t had food like that in SO long! To quote Ms. Veruca Salt: “I want it now!”

I am personally addicted to Pamela’s GF/DF brownies. I have to stop myself from buying a new package during my weekly grocery trip, or I’d eat them every day. I’ve made some from scratch and even bought pre-made, but nothing beats Pamela’s straight from the oven so far.

  20. My favorite gluten-free dessert is a raw peach cobbler, but I can only really make that when peaches are in season. The stuff I’ve tried from Shabtai is so good, though! It doesn’t even seem like it’s gluten free! How do they do it??

  21. I actually made my very first gluten free cake this past Thanksgiving! It was an Italian Creme Cake and it was awesome. Even my gluten eating family that came over gobbled it up! We all reveled in some non-gluten gluttony! 🙂 Thanks for the review of the chocolate rolls. I have been admiring them from afar. I was only diagnosed a few months ago so I have not made the rounds yet, but once you eat a really bad GF product you get a little “taste-shy.”

  22. The Gluten Free Devils Food Seven Layer Cake that they offer looks INCREDIBLE. Right now, my favorite dessert would be a gluten free pumpkin pie. I didn’t get a chance to make one for Thanksgiving, and so have been craving it.

  23. Their ingredients are OUT OF CONTROL!! How is it possible to be so allergy-friendly and so delicious at the same time? And no crazy sweeteners or hydrogenated oils. Amazing.

  24. Flourless chocolate cake is probably my favorite GF dessert though I had a Trader Joe’s panna cotta recently that was pretty darn good.

  25. Wow, those look really good….. I can imagine I would make them disappear very quickly! My favorite GF dessert is always chocolate cake, and I think those rolls would satisfy that craving! Mmmmm hungry now…

  26. i make a mean gf oatmeal cookie, but I’d throw those over in a minute for a chance to feast on these little gems of deliciousness!

  27. I would so love to try the Shabtai goodies; they look scrumptuous! Yummy! Please enter me. Now I must go find something gf and sweet ….

  28. Sigh….I haven’t had anything yummy in the longest time. I sit back and watch my family have yummy things while I get some yucky dried out thing pretending to be a treat….all in the name of being gluten free. I would love to try this!!!

  29. Oh my I really like the look of these =) I loved Honey Cakes so much, but now maybe I can indulge in their sugary goodness again!

  30. Oooh – these look awesome. It’s soooo hard to find something chocolate-ly and creamy that is gluten-free and dairy-free. I can see Shabtai’s Swiss Chocolate Rolls dancing in my head right now!! Pick me! Pick me!

  31. I’ve tried a couple of their products and my oh my I fell in love with their Gluten Free Florentine Lace Cookie, I’d never had one before Shabtai but have craved them ever since.

  32. I really like your podcast and would love to try these products. I was late entering but I might still buy them to see if we like them.

  33. My son is the one with Celiac. He would be in heaven with this package. Right now his favorite GF desert I have found is pre made chocolate chip cookies. He was diagnosed 2 weeks ago so we really have not found much yet, but we are definitely always looking for something that looks good, and these goodies definitively look good.

  34. Those look wonderful! I love a good creme brulee, but only when someone else is doing the hard work. 🙂 Left to my own devices, a kinnickinnick GF donut, or berries and cream do it for me.

  35. Swiss Rolls were my absolute favorite snack as a kid, I would LOVE to try them. I haven’t been able to find then locally yet.

  36. So bummed. I just found your website and missed the drawing! Please do more of them… coupons for these delicious GF desserts are great too! Especially around Christmas when $$ is tight.

  37. when are the winners announced? I ordered from Shabati and expect my order any day now. Yum! Can’t wait!
