  1. Regarding inhaled gluten: I think there’s some evidence that it is possible to react that way. Some of the pasta will dissolve in the water and end up in the water vapor as it boils, though probably not very much. I guess “is it possible?” and “is it likely?” are two different questions though.

    Here’s an abstract that seems a little bit relevant, though I suspect these guys were inhaling a lot more than a couple of breaths’ worth of pasta vapor:

I actually wonder that myself on occasion when smelling something gluteny… we were at the local science museum and I was smelling those really doughy pretzels (which I used to LOVE) and that thought hit me again (it wasn’t the first time). So you’re definitely not the only person to wonder this. Though we may be the only two ;D.
